Faith is defined as complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Faith is also defined as having a strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. Faith is defined in Hebrew(Emunah) as loyalty and faithfulness.
In Hebrews chapter 11 and verse 1, we see that the Bible defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. But wait let’s break this down even futher! Faith is a combination of substance, plus hope, and things not seen. But we can go a little further here because there is still more to be discussed. This specific verse in the Bible is talking about the Now Faith, or immediate faith, or in the moment faith. You say no it’s not, it’s just defining faith! Sir, ma’am, look a little closer. Dive a little deeper. There is no comma there to indicate a pause, so clearly this isnt your typical faith. This is the same faith that God used to create the universe. This is the same faith that created Adam, and breathed life into him. This is the same faith that Jesus operated in when he healed the sick, recovered the sight of the blind, and brought life back into the lives of dead men, and this is the faith that is available to you and me. All you have to do is use it!
So now that you have clarity concerning of not only what faith is, but you found out about the right now kind of faith as well. Let’s discuss how to use it. In James chapter 2 and verses 14-26 the bible talks about faith without works being dead. What this saying is that faith alone can’t get the job done, you must have a action to go with it. You can’t start a car and expect it to get you to your destination wothout any gas, so you shouldn’t expect your faith to work when you’re not giving God anything to work with. The first thing you need to do is search the word of God. Within the word you will find God’s promises for your life. Next, apply it to whatever is your standing in faith for. Once you find it, you need to get up and put your eyes and hands on it, if possible, and let God do the rest. Simple right?
You see faith is a simple process that goes against the rationale of man because it’s not physically available for you to touch or see. That doesn’t mean faith isnt real, it just means you have to trust someone bigger than you to get it done. Furthermore, when we don’t use our faith daily, we are not pleasing God(Hebrews 11:6). We have all been given a measure of faith(Romans 12:3) to walk by and live by more so than being moved by what we see(2 Corinthians 5:7), and we have angels that have been placed in our lives to make it happen(Hebrews 1:14). So what are you going to do, operate in faith or be moved by fear?
~faith appears 336 times in the Bible, must be something to it….
