There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t carry my bible with me. From the time I wake up, until the few hours I sleep at night, it’s with me. It would be nearly impossible for me to navigate through life’s daily trials and deal with my own personal issues without it. Does this sound familiar? For some of you this is your phone, tablet, or laptop but for me, it’s my actual Bible. I have no choice but to carry it with. And no I’m not a minister, but I know what my life would be without it.
You see the Bible says that this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success(Joshua 1:8). How do you keep something in your mouth both night and day, but you don’t carry it with you everywhere you go? The answer is you can’t. You see when you confess the word of God daily, you are now planting seeds in both your inner man, and into the spiritual realm. When you read the word daily, you’re building a road path of faith according to the scripture(Joshua 1:8), and that’s the only way you will make your way prosperous and have success. Furthermore meditating on the word of God allows you to have an arsenal of weaponry at disposal when lack, sickness, angry, or anything else the adversary tries to throw at you.
The second reason I carry the word of god with me everywhere I go is because it’s my sword. In Ephesians six and verse seventeen, the Bible is referred to as the sword of the Spirit. This is what your inner man uses to fight for you when you can’t fight for yourself. In Hebrews four and verse twelve, the Bible states that the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Bible is your Swiss Army knife, and there is nothing it can’t go up against, and not come out victorious. Plus nine times out of ten, you’re not fighting a person, you’re fighting a spirit that’s within a person(Ephesians 6:12), and you can’t fight a spirit with common knowledge. You fight a spirit with the word of God!
With all the advances in modern technology, you have no excuse to not have it with you daily. Your can download it on your phones, computers, and tablets. You can buy it on a cd. Or you can be old school, and carry the physical copy. Whatever you choose, just don’t forget your weapon, because you never know when you might have to go into battle.
