God doesn’t just meet the needs of our lives, He exceeds them. Exceed is defined as:
- Being greater in number or size.
- Going beyond what is allowed or stipulated by.
- Being better than; surpass.
So when we ask God for anything, expect Him to go beyond our comprehension. The Bible states that God, who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that workers in us( Ephesians 3:20). The definition of abundantly is:
- To have in large quantities; plentiful.
So when you take both exceed and abundantly and combine them together, you get a clear definition of how God wants to bless you. He wants to not only give you what you asked for but, give it to you in large quantities, beyond even what is allowed, to the extreme!
Take the woman in the Bible who only had a handful of meal and a little oil in a cruse(1 Kings 17:916). She had already made up her mind that this was going to be the last meal for her and her son. But what she didn’t know was God had a plan. God had already planned for her blessing to come to her if she believed the voice of the prophet. Now, here’s where her faith is going to be tested. He asked that she sow into him her last before she fed her and her son. Can you imagine a man coming to you and asking for your last? She had to have her faith out for a miracle. This was the first step; the seed. Now the spirit of multiplicity has come into her home. Remember what she initially said, ” I only have enough for my son and I”. The seed opened the door for the prophet to move in the anointing and bless her. What was the end result? They ate many days, and the barrel of meal wasted not(not used up), neither did the cruse of oil fail(run dry), because of the seed she sowed into the prophet.
Often times we limit our blessings because we expect it to come the way we want. But what we have to understand is that Faith exceeds our expectations. Faith is from God, and his thoughts and ways exceed ours(Isaiah 55:9). Take the limits off and watch God blow your mind.
